Music maestro A.R. Rahman won the Best Original Song award at the 16th Critics’ Choice Movie awards .The 45-year-old music director won the award for the song ’If I Rise’ for Danny Boyle’s film ’127 Hours’, a collaboration between Rahman and pop star Dido.The Critics’ Choice Movie Awards are given annually by the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) to honour the finest in cinematic achievement.

The star-studded ceremony was held at the Hollywood Palladium. ’The Social Network’ was named the year’s Best Picture and David Fincher won the Best Director award for the film.Colin Firth won the Best Actor award for his role in ’The King’s Speech’ and Natalie Portman was declared the Best Actress for her performance in ’Black Swan’.This is Rahman’s second collaboration with Boyle after ’Slumdog Millionaire’. A.R. Rahman to act in a Hollywood film

Oscar winner A.R. Rahman (SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE) for the first time will be seen in front of the camera in upcoming film SON OF A PREACHER MAN, about the life and times of Grammy winning singer-songwriter-producer PJ Morton.

Besides Rahman, other cast includes American Gospel musician Kirk Franklin (NORBIT), Grammy nominated American Idol Winner Ruben Studdard (LIFE ON A STICK), and producer Warryn Campbell (STOMP THE YARD). Shot in Atlanta and New Orleans in USA and London in United Kingdom, it will be released in 2010. Michael Akwesi Djaba (REASONABLE EXCUSE) is the director.

Rahman and Morton collaborated on Sajna song in recent Hollywood comedy COUPLES RETREAT.

Rahman, who has reportedly recorded sales of over 300 million, was called "Mozart of Madras’’ by Time magazine. Rahman sees music "as a way to connect to spirituality and embrace it" and for "creating harmony in troubled times".

‘Mamma Mia’ – Sounds quite famous indeed, right? Aye! The most happening comedy flick of Hollywood has been grabbed with the title for a stage play based on the musical sensation of ABBA hits. Choreographed by Jeffrey Vardon, Varalakshmi daughter of Sarath Kumar staged the play at Green Park Hotel, here in Chennai. The Group of Hot Shoe Entertainment has its centre at O2 Health Studio situated in various parts of Chennai, including Nungambakkam. Adyar and Mogappair.

The stage play’s theme is all about a daughter going in search of her father with the help of mother’s diary that speaks about three most important men in her life. On the occasion, Sarath Kumar said, ‘Cinema took off for a greater flight from stage Plays and now I’m really thrilled to witness stage Plays getting on for a greater realms…’

Asin dreams big, thinks quick and acts faster! The actress made it big in Bollywood with Ghajini directed by A.R. Murugadoss. Now, she already has a string of projects lined up in Bollywood! Asin will soon be seen in London Dreams opposite Salman Khan, and has also signed up for 19th Step directed by Bharat Bala.

Looks like she has now set her sights on Hollywood. Rumour mongers say she will soon be seen in a Hollywood film. According to recent reports, A.R. Murugadoss has just entered into an agreement with Fox Star Studios to jointly produce and direct movies, and speculations have already started on whom he would cast for the lead roles.

Director Murugadoss, who shot to fame with Ghajini in Bollywood, will now be working on some new projects and Asin might find a berth in at least one of his forthcoming flicks. But is this a Hollywood project? The actress has just moved shifted residence to Mumbai and is believed to be doing up her new house by herself. The film’s shooting will commence somewhere in the middle of September and the entire portion would be shot in Canada. Nothing has been confirmed about Shakira accepting Simbhu’s offer.

But it was revealed to the Hyderabad media channels were present there for press meet hosted by Kalaipuli S Dhanu, Vikram, Director Susi Ganesh and Music Director Devi Sri Prasad.

On that occasion, Vikram said “I was so enthralled watching the teasers of ‘Kandasamy’. They were really fantastic and Producer Kalaipuli S Dhanu has done a fantastic job by availing us with best facilities. Hats off to director Susi Ganesh for a good adeptness. The film was shot in beautiful locales. There are rumors that I am donning bikini dresses and have acted in kissing scenes. I don’t know who is spreading these rumors. You will know the truth if you see the film. There were also rumors that I have danced with Arya in semi clad dress in Goa beach for this film. I feel like laughing when I hear such kind of rumors. The other one is Hollywood hero George Clooney. I am fond of animals. I get wild if anyone tries to be cruel with animals. I had been to Australia for my last vacation. Sky Diving was a thrilling experience for me there. Even now I am proud of this. My family is important for me. In the same way my friends are also equally important for me. I am scared of cockroaches. I like eating lot of tasty foods. My greatest asset are my friends.”

Shriya Saran who has a film career of 8 years is said to be in a depressed state as her Hollywood film career seems to be a big flop. Shriya acted in the English movie “The other end of the line” which was about a call center girl falling love with a calling person.

The movie bombed at the box office and this has affected Shriya’s Hollywood plans. It is said that the day Shriya heard the news that her movie was a flop; she spent hours sipping red wine and Vodka in order to come out of the depression.

Shriya is presently busy with her Tamil and Telugu film contracts and is also doing a Hindi film in bollywood. She has signed an off beat English film which will be directed by international fame Indian director Deepa Mehta.

Nandana Sen recently turned down two Hollywood projects as they had a couple of nude sequences which she wasn’t comfortable doing. She was offered an Italian film based on a story by Mahasweta Devi called Choli ke peeche. But though the story and the role were great, it was the nude scenes that made the actress reject the movie. Nandana says, “I feel the subject matter is such that nudity cannot be avoided.” Trust producer-boyfriend Madhu Mantena must be proud of his girl.
