Kanika opposite Mammootty in Droner

Kanika is the new star in the Malayalam film industry. After the tremendous success of Bhagyadevatha and the latest super hit movie Pazhassi Raja, there has been no looking back for the actress. The actress has virtually breathed life into the role of Kaitheri Makkam in Pazhassi Raja.

After that scintillating performance the actress has been roped in to perform another vital role in the upcoming Malayalam movie Droner by director Shaji Kailas, opposite Mammootty. Shwetha Vijay who had made her debut opposite Sureshgopi in the movie Kadaksham is also making her appearance onscreen as another heroine opposite Mammootty.

Apart from Mammootty, Kanika and Shwetha Vijay, the movie also features Thilakan and Manoj K Jayan in prominent roles. A K Sajan handles the script of this movie which is being produced by Aroma. The shooting has already begun in Ottappalam, Kerala.

Divya Venkatasubramaniam , better known as Kanika by her stage name is back in big screen. Making her debut in the 2002 Tamil film Five Star, she went on to work in other South Indian film industries, including Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada, as well. She is perhaps best known for her performances as Eashwari in her debut film Five Star, Gayathri in Varalaru - History of Godfather and Thenmozhi in Autograph.

Currently she is doing Pazhassi raja with malayalam Superstar Mamooty and Supreme star Sharath kumar.the movie is directed by Hariharan and the story is written by Vasudevan Nair. Other cast includes Padmapriya, Manoj.K.jayan, Thilagan, Suman etc.

Meanwhile She has also acted in Malayalam movie Raja Thevathai with actor jayaram in lead and for first time she will be doing a comic role.

'Five Star' Kanika, who has been married for eight months and has settled in the US, is all set to return to acting. The actress, noted for playing Cheran's wife in Autograph and Ajit's Varalaaru, at the time of her marriage was doing Mammootty's , Pazhasi Raja with ace director Hariharan. Seeing her pictures in magazines Malayalam cinema's best known family director Sathyan Anthikad has signed her up to do his next film with Jayaram. The actress says she will not do run of the mill roles again in Tamil, and will pick her movies carefully in her second innings.

Actresses usually have very less career time in Tamil Cinema. Tamil actors are dancing in duet scenes even in their 60 years with teen age actresses. But, if actresses are crossing 25-30 age or after marriage they become consider for aunty or other roles.

The BITS BILANI Engineering degree holder and 1999 Miss Madurai Divya Venkatasubramaniam has changed her name as KANIKA for acting in movies and has acted 12 movies in all Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada languages. Five Star, Varalaru and Autograph only three movies are remarkable movies in her career. She has married Actress Jaya Sree brother Shyam Radhakrishnan on June 16 2008. When marriage time Kanika said she would complete her signed movies and settled for a career in Engineering in USA where her husband is settled.

But, now the latest news came different. Pazhasi Raja – The Mammootty and Sarathkumar lead Malayalam movie which Kanika agreed before marriage. She is now acting in that movie. In mean time she agreed to act with Jeyaram in director Satyan Anthikkad movie. There is buzz; if these both movies would succeed Kanika would get more offers in Malayalam.
