Now the latest news is that Prakash Raj is going to tie knot to Pony Varma on August 24th in Mumbai and to start his new life. It is also heard from the sources that Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor who introduced Prakash Raj as villain in ‘Wanted’ film seems to be looking after the wedding arrangements in Mumbai.

She said “I want to change my image. I want to act in roles which are more meaningful. And I am sure I will able to get rid of the image of being branded as a sexy actress with films like ‘Ilaignan’ in which I am doing a different character.”

On saying about her wearing skimpy costumes, the actress said, “When my co-stars bag challenging roles, it disturbs me to some extent. But most directors insist I wear a bikini and shorts.”

The very adjective will lead you to only one person. Yes, we are talking about the eternal beauty Sridevi who is fondly called as the ‘Athiloka Sundari’ by the Telugu crowds for obvious reasons. However, this sundari gave the shock of their lives to some really beautiful ladies recently.

Apparently, Sri was present at a designer showroom and it was also filled with few really gorgeous women. However, they were in for a surprise as they saw her. The once beautiful Sridevi is looking all drained out with deep eye sockets and drawn cheeks. One could clearly see the effects of dieting and other hard burning exercises on her.

Though Sri was slim and trim, the lack of freshness on her face and the visible muscular toning on her figure made her look quite brittle. Kamal Hassan’s elder daughter Shruthi Hassan will be acting in the remake of Tamil super hit “ Sigappu Rojakkal”, which featured Kamal Hassan and Sridevi in lead. The movie was directed by Bharathi Raja. The movie was also made in Telugu with the title “Yerra Gulabi” and was a bumper hit for adult viewers.

Now director Bharathi Raja’s son Manoj will be directing the remake of the yesteryear’s movie with Shruthi and actor Shakti in lead. The yesteryear’s movie was a remake of Japanese film “Red Roses” and the new script will have some changes.

Acting in the remake of her father’s film is said to be an excitement filled experience to Shruthi Hassan and the movie will go onto floors from this summer.

YVS Chowdary showered praises on Ileana in Saleem audio function. He even went on to say that he loves Ileana. He compared Ileana with Sridevi and Simran and opined that she is the best actress after them. Ileana too feels that YVS was the one who showcased her beauty to the maximum in Devadas, which helped her to become the leading actress in South. Though Ileana was busy, she agreed to do Saleem, only because of YVS Chowdary. They are emotionally attached with each other.

The eternal beauty Sridevi may have passed her prime but that has not taken away the charm and appeal she has over the audience even today. So, an effort was made by the makers of the Tamil movie ‘Mappillai’ to rope her in for the role of the hero’s mother in law.

But it seems that the response from Sridevi got them to find their heels and start running. Apparently, Sridevi is said to have demanded a whopping Rs 80 lakhs as her remuneration and that too after the deduction of taxes. Well, the figures sure showed stars for the makers.

While some say that the negotiations are still on regarding the price, there is another report that the makers have roped in the gorgeous diva Jayaprada for the same role. The film happens to be the remake of the yesteryears super hit which had superstar Rajinikanth in the lead. Interestingly, the hero for the new version happens to be Dhanush, son in law of the superstar.

The word Chennai seems to be lucky for Asin. In her debut Telugu film Amma Nana O Tamil Ammayi she was called Chennai and in her forthcoming film London Dreams Salman calls her Chennai Express. "Whenever Salman would call me Chennai, my thoughts would go back to my shooting stints in Hyderabad. Puri Jagannath was such an amazing director, he made me so comfortable. Doing the film was a joy," says Asin.

The pretty actress lives in the same apartment where veteran actress Sri Devi stays. "Sri Devi ma'am is my neighbour. She stays on the first floor and I'm on the sixth of the same building," she added.

Asin is excited being paired opposite top heroes in Hindi Film Industry in her first two films and hoping to pair with all the Khans and every hero in Bollywood. In her future projects she is pairing opposite Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor. Other than Hindi films her future projects include a South Indian film in 2010.

Meanwhile, Asin's upcoming film London Dreams, directed by Vipul Shah is due to release on October 30th. Asin is paired opposite Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan in this film. The hit pair Sri Devi - Kamal Hassan starred together in many movies like 16 Vayadinele, Sigappu Rojakkal, Guru, Varumayin Niram Sigappu and Moonram Pirai and many more.But it was a strange coincidence, that both of them made their presence at Madras High Court on Wednesday. Kamal Haasan, representing Raaj Kamal Films International, submitted his counter that there was no diversion of funds as alleged by Pyramid Saimira International Ltd. His verdict will be pronounced by Judge Rajasuriya today (Thursday). Sridevi had better luck when the decks were cleared for the release of her husband Boney Kapoor’s home production Wanted. Judge Rajasuriya chose to close the case as the parties came to a compromise after Sridevi deposited three crores before the trial court ahead of the stipulated day of Wednesday. Should the verdict on Unnaipol Oruvanon Thursday go in favour of Kamal Haasan, it would be a double victory for Mayilu and Sappani – the character names of the lead couple in the silver jubilee hit 16 Vayadinele.

Namitha is going to play a police officer in Desadrohi to be produced by GVH Prasad under the banner of Sridevi Cine Chitra. Santhi Chandra would play a key role. Producer says, “The film will have a young Hero and KS Nageswara Rao is going to direct the movie. In fact, we prepared the story some three years ago keeping in view Vijayashanthi as the heroine. However, we could not complete the project. So, we searched for an alternative and found Namitha as the suitable heroine as the subject is evergreen. As the character is that of a police officer, Namitha has strived hard and reduced some 9 kgs by now and she has promised to shed Three more kgs by the time we launch shooting.”

The director says, “We have decided to bring it out as an action entertainer. The screenplay would be very impressive. The characters played by Brahmanandam and Ramireddy would also be important. We have plans to launch the shooting in the third week of April and would be wrapped up in the schedules that are to be taken up in May and June. We are planning to shoot the film in Delhi, Rajasthan, Chennai and Ramoji Film City.”

Speaking on the occasion, Santichandra thanked the producers for giving him another opportunity to play Hero under their banner. He said, “Earlier, I had played one of the heroes in Three brought under the same banner. Brahmanandam and Vadivelu are expected to play together in this film. The producer is making efforts to launch the shooting of the film by the end of April.”

Namitha says, “I love doing action characters. I am taking special coaching in martial arts and I am happy to do risky fights if the producer permits me to do so. Vijayashanti is my role model for these kinds of roles and I be happy if I could do even 10 per cent of what she has done on the screen.”

Actress Sreedevi Vijayakumar is going to enter the wedlock soon. The charming young actress will soon get married to Rahul, the chairman of a software company in Hyderabad.

The youngest daughter of the star couple Vijayakumar and Manjula, Sreedevi had made her first appearance onscreen as child artist in P.Vasu's Rickshaw Mama and later played the lead lady in films like Kadhal Virus, Thithikuthey, Priyamana Thozhi and Devathaiyai Kandein which made her a popular heroine in the Industry.

The betrothal function for the pair Rahul and Sreedevi will be held on the 15th of March at Chennai and the marriage will be held in the month of June.

As usual Sreedevi also says that she would prefer to stay away from the flash lights and become a good house wife!

Athiloka Sundari Sridevi is now seating out in Mumbai Suburb gym centre. She is starting her work-out at sharp 7 AM after dropping her kids in school. Her personal physical trainer is helping her for her two hour session.

She is concentrating on shaping her muscle tissue and hide loose flab if any. It is interesting to note that she is not at all bothered about watchful eyes around her but only concentrating on work. She is not finding it a problem to give autographs for a few those ask her in those wee hours of Mumbai.

Well, she can very well carry this gym activity at her home. Why is she coming out? The answer many say is that it is for the publicity. She is now about to act in Mr India sequel to be directed by Sekhar Kapoor.

In fact it becomes publicity for that film. Probably Sridevi must be charging extra bucks for this activity.

Sridevi to return with ‘Abhiyum…’ remake

Sridevi, who once was the empress of Indian filmdom, is all set to make a return to Bollywood with the remake of the Tamil superhit, ‘Abhiyum Naanum’, it is learned.

Her husband Boney Kapoor has acquired the Hindi remake rights of the film. The Tamil film, directed by Radha Mohan, explores the intricate relationship between a father and his daughter, played by Prakashraj and Trisha. Anil Kapoor and Sridevi might play the roles essayed by Prakashraj and Aishwarya respectively in the original. Boney Kapoor has asked Radhamohan to direct the Hindi version as well, it is heard.

After ‘Mozhi’, the combination of actor-producer Prakashraj and director Radhamohan has again struck gold in ‘Abhiyum Naanum’. The producers are queuing up to acquire the remake rights of the film in other languages. Another distributor has acquired the rights to dub the film in Telugu for around Rs 1.5 crore!

The forthcoming Nayanthara-Karthi starrer has the fans' expectations soaring high. The film, titled Payya, will be directed by Lingusamy. Speaking about the film and Nayanthara in particular, Lingusamy said that Payya's storyline revolves entirely on the highways of Bangalore-Mumbai route. What happens in a car forms the crux of Payya, he elaborated.

On selecting Nayan for the role, Lingusamy said that she is the best actress who has all the qualities that Sridevi had. He added that Nayan's acting skills will be showcased in Payya. The actress might even be paid a crore for it

The film's shooting will commence on December 15th in Bangalore and go on for 20 days. Lingusamy is teaming up yet again with music director Yuvan Shankar Raja after their association in Sandakozhi.
