Kamal Hassan’s elder daughter Shruthi Hassan will be acting in the remake of Tamil super hit “ Sigappu Rojakkal”, which featured Kamal Hassan and Sridevi in lead. The movie was directed by Bharathi Raja. The movie was also made in Telugu with the title “Yerra Gulabi” and was a bumper hit for adult viewers.

Now director Bharathi Raja’s son Manoj will be directing the remake of the yesteryear’s movie with Shruthi and actor Shakti in lead. The yesteryear’s movie was a remake of Japanese film “Red Roses” and the new script will have some changes.

Endhiran which is a dream project of south Indian film director Shanker has a bad news for its fans. The movie releases is furthermore delayed and is postponed to October-November 2010.

Well, the delay in the project is bit disappointing news for all those who are eager to have a glimpse of it. But the good news is that the delay is worthy for the time as the reason is said to be addition of 3D affects.

After seeing the movie “Avatar”, Shanker desired to have his part of “Endhiran” follow the present 3D fashion. So, the entire production team of “Endhiran” is working on the dream and desire of Shanker and will re-work on 250 special affect mixing from now on.

The computer graphics- CG are almost complete and a portion of the film, which is the climax, has to be induced with some CG work. After canning a song, which is still in the recording stages, the entire film shoot will be winded off and then the post production work will resume in a couple of months again.

So, for this reason, the movie is said to take more 4 months time and is expected to be a grand Dasara 2010 release. AR Rahman has composed the music for this film, which features Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai in lead. (HC)

Cut throat competition is waging in kollywood for the remake rights of the films. Mostly the competition is going on for the remake rights of superstars MGR and Rajinikanth.

Sundar C is currently busy with the remaking of Rajinikanth’s super hit film ‘Murattukalai’. And now, there arises a heavy competition between Sundar C and Silambarasan for the remake rights of ever green yesteryear film ‘Ulagam Sutrum Valiban’, directed and produced by MGR.

Sundar, who had already made publicized his interest in doing the remake MGR’s of super hit film. He also said that he will start the film after finishing his movie ‘Thee’. But, as the discussions with the owners of the film has been lengthened, he could not do it at the before said time.

And now, the latest buzz is that Silamabarasan is ready to get the remake rights of the film by paying of Rs. 60 lakhs to its owners. But the owners party has passed on Simbhu’s offer to Sundar, and showed its interest to give the offer to Sundar as he was the first one to apply for it but provided if he pay as much as Silambarasan only.

A Malaysian Indian official has blamed Tamil cinema for young people from the community taking to crime.

N.V. Subbarow, education officer of the Consumer Association of Penang (CAP), was quoted by Malaysia Namban newspaper as saying that the ‘incidence of crime among Indian youths was related to violence depicted in Tamil films’.

Malaysia’s estimated two million ethnic Indian community is predominantly Tamil that watches Tamil films, mostly sourced from India.

Subbarow said that so far no concrete action had been taken to cure such social ills as the government, politicians and community were ‘too busy blaming each other’, The Star newspaper said Monday.

Ethnic Indian leaders generally complain of falling moral and social standards among the community due to lack of adequate religious and moral teachings. (IANS / CHIT)

Priyamani, who is set to star in director-screenwriter-producer Ram Gopal Varma’s Hindi-Telugu-Tamil film, Rakta Charitra, admits that she was uncertain and afraid of working for the film in the initial stages.

The actress was unsure of whether she wanted to do the film but when she went to Mumbai to shoot for the film, it changed her views completely. She found that RGV was an easy person to work with. The director cast her in the film after he watched her National Award winning performance in Paruthiveeran.

She will be seen playing Gangula Bhanumati, the wife of Maddelachervu Suri (who is played by Surya) in the film. It stars Vivek Oberoi, Shatrughan Sinha, Mohan Babu (Telugu) and Radhika Apte in the lead roles. Vivek Oberoi plays politician Paritala Ravi, who was a feared individual in South Indian politics. Actress Bhumika invested Rs 1.5 Cr in the movie ‘Yagam’ as per sources. She made her presence on screen as female lead and also projected her banner Down Town Films under the tag ‘Presented By’. She believed in the script and director fully and shelled out her amount.

And Shivaji took the remake rights from Kannada by burning Rs 15 lakh plus and then produced the movie 'Taj Mahal'. Although the cost was less with respect to casting, the production costs shot up. The story has no potential to work among Telugu masses, although it worked in Kannada. Shivaji wouldn’t have done this project, felt audiences.

Actor-singer Shruti Haasan, who sang in Hindi film “Luck”, recently recorded a song for the much-awaited Kannada film “Pruthwi” that stars Puneet Raj Kumar and Parvathi Menon in lead roles.

“Yes, we have recorded a song crooned by Shruti in a Mumbai studio. It is written by K. Kalyan. The lines start with ‘Nenapidu, Nenapidu’,” said the film’s producer Soorappa Babu.

The song was recorded last week under the supervision of composer Manikanth Kadri. The film is directed by Jacob Varghese, who delivered hit film “Savaari” last year. It is being produced by Soorappa Babu and N.S. Raj Kumar. This particular song has already been shot abroad with Puneet and Parvathi.

“We were in talks with Shruti from the past one month and she agreed to sing March 7. She was quite busy working as an actor in a Telugu film and she was also helping her father Kamal in shifting his house from Eldams Road to Sholinganallur. Finally, she was able to allot a convenient date and we recorded the song,” said Soorappa.

He also said Shruti was happy with the lyrics. The audio of the film will be released on March 17 that marks film’s leading star Puneet’s birthday.

Shruti sang her first song when she was just six in her father’s film “Thevar Magan” and also scored music for her dad’s Tamil film “Unnai Pol Oruvan”. [WaY]

Speaking to English news daily, Poonam disclosed that she will never venture out into bollywood, as she is not too ambitious. She claims that Tollywood and Kollywood are two best worlds to work in and so she has no desire to migrate to bollywood. But, Poonam has also disclosed that she was offered many bollywood projects as soon as she debuted in Tollywood. But she thinks that Hindi films are not her type of stuff to work with.

The three-year marriage of Tamil cinema’s top director Selvaraghavan and his actress wife Sonia Agarwal is finally coming to an end on March 12. The Family Welfare Court in Chennai today fixed its verdict on the Selvaraghavan – Sonia Agarwal divorce case to be on March 12, 2010. The couple visited the court today and announced to the judge they are still resolved about their decision. Remember that the couple had filed for a divorce in August last year at the family court in Egmore in Chennai and applied for a “divorce by mutual consent”.Their wedding that was held in December 2006 lasted only for about 2 years after which they decided to part ways.

Sonia was initially reluctant for a divorce, and tried for patch up. However the couple realized that the marriage was heading nowhere and decided to part. The buzz is that Selva paid a huge alimony to Sonia and now they will be happily independent people. (CHIT)

Overcoming all the obstacles, Kiran Rathod’s ‘High School’ is finally released. The film is a love story of a 30-year old woman with a 13-year old boy. It stars Kiran Rathod and Master Karthik in the lead roles.

The latest news is that Andhra Pradesh High Court has ordered to stop screening of the ’High School’ movie.

A lawyer by name Yashwant and also few other persons filed a case in the High Court against the movie. They say that the movie has been found to be very vulgar (after they watched it) and also in some scenes the heroine Kiran Rathod exposes too much like in a rainy scenes where her bra and inner ’things’ can be easily visible.

Since the movie is likely to spoil the minds of young people, the people have requested the High Court to stop the screening of the movie.

The High court agreed to their request and ordered the theaters to stop screening the movie.

The next hearing on the movie would be on 9th this month. (CHIT)

Trisha plays the role of Jessie in 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya' whose age is supposed to be a year more than Karthik character played by Silambarasan (Simbu) in the film. How come Trisha agreed to play older to Silambarasan?

She says initially she refused to do the role and even argued and fought with the director for that. But finally Gautham managed to convince her telling the story needs it.
